Frequently Asked Questions
Does size matter?
Well…sort of! Our exclusive use weekend weddings are based on a minimum of 60 daytime guests and our All Inclusive weekday package wedding is based on a minimum of 50 guests. We had a wedding for 140 in the house last year and a marquee wedding for 200 for a wedding breakfast. For the evening reception we have up to 200 guests.
What is your unique selling point?
From the moment you come down the drive and first glimpse the house you will know instantly that Dillington has the wow factor! The magnificence of the house and the beauty of its setting combined with the amount of accommodation on offer makes for a truly unique venue.
Can I arrive in style by helicopter?
You certainly can and the co-ordinates you will need are ST3674715559
Where do we tie the knot?
There is a choice of three locations for your ceremony. The romantic early Victorian Orangery which allows the option of a part outdoor, part indoor ceremony, the elegant Hanning reception room with its enormous crystal chandelier or the historic Mews Theatre which has capacity for up to 140 for a Civil Ceremony.
Who does the cooking?
Loraine, our fabulous Head Chef, knows that food is one of the most important elements of a wedding day and is ready to offer suggestions and come up with a bespoke wedding breakfast menu. Once you have booked with us, it is a great idea to come in and have a meeting with Kari our Menu Planner, to talk about all the options for delectable delicacies on offer. Truly scrumptious!
Can we have red wine?
Surprisingly, we hear that some venues don’t allow this but we are all big fans of it here at Dillington and before you ask, stiletto heels are not a problem either!
Do you offer a drinks package?
Our own personally selected wine list is available for you to choose from and should you want an alternative we are happy to try and source specific wines for you. In terms of quantity we can work out how much you will need and provide quotes to allow you to work within your budget.
How will the day run?
Our in-house Wedding Planners will have meetings with you in the run up to your big day to help you plan. We work towards a running order for the day which is really helpful in terms of timings and along with the brilliant Dillington team are with you throughout your stay making sure that everything happens exactly as you want it to. We also act as your Master of Ceremony, so no need to hire a man in a red coat who shouts at everyone!
Do you have preferred suppliers?
Yes! Lots of them, and when you book with us we send you our contact list with everything from photographers and florists to cake-makers and caricaturists.
Are you a child free zone?
Certainly not, unless of course that’s what you want! Children are very welcome and love running around and exploring. A treasure hunt is a great idea for them along with lawn games and children’s entertainers. Crèche facilities can be arranged and we also have a reduced price children’s menu.
Where do we strut our stuff on the dance floor?
Again at Dillington we offer a choice of locations. You and your guests can dance the night away in the house with our very own dance floor or head to the Mews for the first dance and “throw some shapes” in the theatre complete with our very own stage for your band to perform on and our second fully licensed bar.
When will the party end?
Our bar in the house shuts at 12.30am and all non residents will start to depart. The guests staying overnight at Dillington are more than welcome to enjoy the Dillington after party and can either finish off the last of the wine from the wedding breakfast or order in drinks at last orders at the bar to take them into the wee small hours. Last one to bed turns the lights off!
How many can stay the night?
At Dillington we have 43 bedrooms sleeping 78 of your guests with the addition of some airbeds and camp beds for little ones.
Where do I sign up?
Hooray! Once you have decided to book your wedding reception here with us at Dillington we will send you 2 copies of our terms and conditions for you to look through and sign.
